“There’s more to life than books you know?” (Part Eight)

Back to heavy today. Just as with Orwell, today’s book is even more relevant. The importance of trust in Politics, and in particular, the way that data is used to promote ideals, and to control people is very much in the news. The Cambridge Analytica case is fairly well known, but the actual details and depths of the case I still do not believe made the impact that they should

Christopher Wylie was at the heart of the CA scandal, and I use that word deliberately. The ramifications of Cambridge analytica are still being felt throughout politics, and whilst many are blaming the situation with Dominic Cummings on Brexit (Remember that?), the story is far more complicated than a binary yes/no vote. “Mindf*ck – Cambridge Analytica and the plot to break the world” tells the story of the man who developed the tool that used data modelling to influence the results of elections throughout the world. It should be deeply concerning to anyone who cares about democracy.

With the new Track and Trace app having some clear connections with the Cambridge analytica case, it is well worth reading.

I accept, that of course, everyone has their own side of the story, but, In this case, we have rarely heard this side of the story. The MSM that is apparently against the “Elite” (TM Dominic “Daddy Owns a Castle” Cummings), that is pretty much ignored the clear questions raised by this book. Carole Cadwalladr the journalist was attacked and her credibility called into question when she tried to push this story. All I would ask is that you read it with an open mind.

Again, as with some of my other choices, be prepared to feel angry after reading, and if you are not in a very good place at the moment…perhaps save it for a happier day
